SUNY General Education Requirements

All students matriculated in A.A. and A.S. programs under 2023 catalog requirements and forward must meet the SUNY General Education requirements as outlined below. Students matriculated in A.A. and A.S. programs under catalog requirements from 2015-2022 must meet the SUNY General Education requirements as outlined in their respective catalog. The requirements described here are for 2023 and forward.
Students enrolled in A.A. and A.S. programs must complete seven of the ten knowledge and skill areas below, for a total of at least 30 credits in SUNY Gen Ed courses. Four of the seven completed areas must be Communication, Diversity: Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences. The remaining three areas must be chosen from Humanities, Social Sciences, The Arts, US History and Civic Engagement, World History and Global Awareness, or World Languages.
Students enrolled in A.A.S. programs must complete four knowledge and skill areas: Written and Oral Communication, Diversity: Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences, for a total of at least 20 credits in SUNY Gen Ed courses.
