CRJ 219 Victims, Witnesses, and the Criminal Justice System

This course focuses on the impact of crime on its victims and witnesses. Specific types of victims, witnesses, and crime will be studied, including homicide, sexual assault, domestic violence, child maltreatment, and elder abuse. This course requires the student to analyze restitution issues, the treatment of victims and witnesses by the criminal justice system, victims’ rights legislation, and contemporary trends in the treatment of crime victims and witnesses. Prerequisite(s): Placement in ENG 103  and RDG 140 /RDG 153 , or permission of instructor.
