RDG 093 Reading Preparation for College

Credits: (3EQ)
This course is designed to meet the needs of students who should strengthen their reading and study skills to the level necessary to effectively and efficiently manage the demands of college courses. Emphasis will be placed on textbook reading and comprehension, and will include managing technical vocabulary, focused text marking, and content processing to maximize retention of text. The course includes analysis of articles to identify an author’s message, supporting points and evidence. Critical reading strategies are included. Students will also analyze issues and challenges that can create barriers to success in college. Prerequisite(s): RDG 087  or Placement Test Co-requisite(s): RDG 093L .
