AET 211 Nuclear Energy Systems: Carbon Free Alt Credits: (4) In this course, students learn important concepts about the use of nuclear energy for electric power generation. This type of electrical power generation requires an interdisciplinary understanding of concepts related to mechanical, electrical, and nuclear technologies. In addition, as a carbon free 24/7 energy source, students learn why nuclear energy can help address climate change concerns. This course includes discussions on radioactivity, radiation, reactor physics, thermodynamics, producing electricity, nuclear waste concerns, and advanced safer nuclear power station designs. Prerequisite(s): ELT 141 or PHY 104 (or higher) or permission of instructor.
