ASL 201 American Sign Language III Credits: (3) Students will acquire intermediate American Sign Language (ASL) vocabulary and grammar skills that will enable them to effectively communicate in common and/or routine social interactions with a Deaf person. Conversational and narrative topics include but are not limited to the following: errands around town, monetary transactions, locating objects, weather and emergencies, events and trips, and future career plans. Students will also further develop insight and understanding of the Deaf culture and community through exploration and comparing with their own culture and experiences. Upon successful completion of ASL 201, students may enroll in ASL 202 American Sign Language IV . Prerequisite(s): ASL 102 , three to four years of high school ASL, or permission of instructor.
