ARH 140 Wood Frame Construction

This is a lecture course covering the materials and methods of contemporary residential construction, including sustainability and the latest building science. The characteristics, properties, performance and application of materials and systems used in wood frame construction will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes
  1. List the environmental factors and zoning regulations that impact a building site.
  2. Categorize the basic building systems and their components.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of residential building science and sustainability.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of residential foundation, floor, wall and roof systems.
