Manufacturing Fundamentals Microcredential

The Manufacturing Fundamentals Microcredential consists of seven courses covering fundamental skills needed for entry-level positions in manufacturing, facilities, or equipment maintenance. These courses stack directly into both the 1-year Electromechnical Technology Certificate and the 2-year Electromechanical Technology AAS degree to allow students to advance their education over time. ARH 250 Principles of Structures

Structure as it affects design. A study of the loading of structures and the resistance to those loads as they apply to wood frame and steel frame structures.

Learning Outcomes

Recognize and determine the loads on structures.
Apply loads to the members of a structure.
Calculate stresses in structural members.
Identify properties of members and what they mean.
Design wood members.
Design steel members.
Describe how a structure supports lateral (wind & seismic) loads.
Demonstrate competent use of structural computer software.
