ART 102 Drawing II

This course refines the basic skills learned in ART 101 Drawing I . Emphasis is placed upon technical proficiency and in-depth exploration of the basic elements of drawing and design. Completion of this course is required for all students in the Art program. Prerequisite(s): C or higher in ART 101 .

Learning Outcomes
  1. Express the outer contour edge, separation, prominence, depth and surface of forms as they appear in space.
  2. Make gesture drawings expressing a holistic structural essence of form (particularly in relation to the figure) in rapid manner.
  3. Judge shape and size relationships and how they spatially coordinate within their environment and infer three dimensional depth.
  4. Represent light and shadow (chiaroscuro) indicating three dimensional form, spatial depth, and surface.
  5. Manipulate a variety of drawing mediums (solid and aqueous) in a controlled and purposeful manner.
  6. Place imagery within the framework of the picture plane with a continued exploration of design concepts.
  7. Discuss (with professional terminology) and evaluate the student’s and others’ work as well as demonstrating an understanding of constructive criticism and self-analysis.
