ART 103 Design I Credits: (3) This course is a survey and application of the basic principles of 2-dimensional design and composition, and an introduction to the design process and its use in visual problem solving. Students will also receive training in the use of drafting tools, measuring systems, and methods of producing finished work.

- Evaluate their own design and those of fellow students in terms of the application of the principles of two-dimensional design through participation in group critiques.
- Demonstrate use of the vocabulary of art and design.
- Demonstrate use of the design processes that are used by artists and designers for visual problem solving.
- Demonstrate use of drafting tools, measuring systems, and various techniques to produce finished work in a systematic way and on a timely basis.
- Present their own work in a professional manner.
