ART 240 Advanced Graphic Design Credits: (3) Practical and theoretical design concepts and their application to advanced communications problems and multi-piece campaigns will be studied. Projects will emphasize concept development and portfolio preparation.
Learning Outcomes The student will achieve a proficiency in communications design as it relates to real world applications.
- Identify and articulate a communication need based on supplied information and research.
- Create artwork in a page layout software application with a basic understanding of the software’s functions, tools, menus and palettes.
- Identify and articulate the target market and marketing objectives.
- Extend a design concept through a variety of requirements and multi-piece applications.
- Design and produce comps of professional quality.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the purpose for a portfolio presentation.
- Prepare a portfolio and the artwork presented.
- Discuss and evaluate the class’s and the student’s own work as well as demonstrate an understanding of constructive criticism and self-analysis.
