ART 253 Italian Renaissance Art Credits: (3)
This course will examine the painting, sculpture, and architecture produced in Italy from the early Renaissance to Mannerism. Students will focus on master works while paying particular attention to the cultural, political, and societal issues which may have affected the development of artistic forms and techniques of the period.

Learning Outcomes
- Identify masterpieces within the major artistic periods covered based on style characteristics as well as historical context.
- Exhibit, through verbal and written means, critical and analytical thinking in relation to the art and the specific forces in society for which the works were produced.
- List and describe methods and techniques of Renaissance art production.
- Compare and contrast a variety of art conservation methodologies.
- List, define, and use (both in verbal and written formats) correct terminology related to course topics such as those that apply to techniques, style, art production, and architecture.
