ATC 115 Automotive Electricity and Electronics Credits: (3) This course is an introductory course applied to the automobile. DC and AC circuits including series, parallel and series parallel are investigated. Concepts of magnetism and inductance are studied and applied to starting and charging systems. Laboratory emphasis is on basic electronic test equipment for diagnosing basic vehicle accessories and systems. This course has an accompanying lab.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate an understanding of the theory and applied concepts of electricity.
- Demonstrate an understanding of what an electric circuit is and how to measure characteristics of that circuit.
- Apply the concepts of Alternating Current to automotive systems.
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of a vehicle’s starting and charging system.
- Demonstrate an understanding of all electrical diagnostic routines to determine possible electrical issues.
