BUS 231 Human Resource Management Credits: (3) This course is a study in the major areas of Human Resource Management. It includes recruitment, selection, job analysis, training, job evaluation, wage and salary administration, and labor relations. The course specifically addresses the human resource manager’s responsibility for development of employee potential within an environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion for all members of an organization.

- Provide a background in the functions and activities typically carried out by human resource professionals.
- Recognize how human resource professionals can help promote social justice by giving more groups of people equitable access to quality employment.
- Use employment legislation and case law, with emphasis on 1960 to the present, to identify how power and privilege has historically repressed underrepresented groups of people.
- Perform job analysis and recognize its role in human resource planning and development.
- Write job descriptions and job specifications utilizing language that is neutral in terms of race, gender, religion, age, and sexual preference.
- Identify legal terminology and its relevance in creating a diverse and inclusive working environment.
- Define the relationship between employee performance evaluation and employee compensation methodologies.
