FPT 250 Fire Department Supervision II

This course meets the requirements of the NFPA 1021 Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications Level II. The curriculum is designed to equip fire and emergency service professionals with the necessary skills to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of a supervisory company officer. The course covers fundamental aspects such as company officer II, human resources and administrative responsibilities, delivery of emergency services, and safety. Upon successful completion of this course, students with IFSAC Fire Officer I may sit for the IFSAC Fire Officer II exam. Prerequisite(s): FPT 121 , or permission of program coordinator.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Define the roles and responsibilities of the company officer level II.
  2. Examine the key areas and issues in the fire service from a management perspective.
  3. Discuss the personnel management to include perfomnace evaluations, discipline, and other human resources issues.  
  4. Describe benefits of effective public relations and community outreach program.
  5. Identifies roles and responsibilities for command staff and unit supervision positions within IMS.
