HEA 207 Personal and Community Health

This course is an exploration into the dimensions of wellness stressing the importance of personal healthcare responsibility and its direct coorelation to the improvement of  community well-being. Emphasis is placed on improving health related knowledge within a variety of health topics through the analysis of  health related information. Opportunitiies to evaluate and explore the cultural, social, psychological, environmental, and economic issues influencing wellness within the global community will be presented along with strategies and resources supporting informed decision-making about health behaviors.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Discuss the foundations of personal health and its impact on the global community.
  2. Analyze and evaluate health problems, practices, and services that have an impact on health outcomes.
  3. Describe the dimensions of wellness and the practices that support healthy lifestyles. 
  4. Identify community and global health concerns, and evaluate the correlated health promotion strategies.
  5. Use behavior change strategies and resources to build a wellness lifestyle.
  6. Recognize how health equity, health access, and health advocacy are factors of social justice with the healthcare process.
