HFA 214 CPR Recertification

Taught under American Red Cross guidelines. This course is for public safety personnel, lifeguards, athletic trainers, emergency response team members and health care professionals who need to update and recertify in professional rescuer skills. Prerequisite(s): Current CPR card issued within one year or permission of instructor.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Explain the EMS system and the professional rescuer’s role.
  2. Identify guidelines to ensure safety at an emergency scene.
  3. Explain effects to the body when systems fail.
  4. Identify methods of disease transmission and prevention.
  5. List Emergency Action principles.
  6. Identify breathing emergencies.
  7. Demonstrate use of resuscitation and bag-valve masks.
  8. List signs of cardiac emergencies.
  9. Perform resuscitation skills on adults, infants and children, with single and multiple rescuers.
