HIT 120 Medical Terminology Credits: (3) This course will provide a detailed study of the meaning of medical terms that relate to medical science and human anatomy. Medical specialties including pathology, radiology, and pharmacology, as well as abbreviations used in the health care field will be covered. In addition to definitions, pronunciation and spelling will be emphasized.

Learning Outcomes
- Utilize common abbreviations and medical terms consisting of word roots, combining form, prefixes and suffixes, using correct pronunciation, spelling and definitions;
- Demonstrate knowledge of organs and structures of the various body systems;
- Apply understanding of medical terminology related to the basics of pharmacology, routes of administration, and commonly prescribed drugs used in diagnosis and treatment of diagnoses and conditions;
- Apply understanding of radiological, endoscopic, surgical and laboratory procedures and other treatment modalities used in diagnosis and treatment of diagnoses and conditions;
- Analyze and interpret oral and written documentation containing medical terms, diagnoses and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
