MAT 104 Quantitative Reasoning

Credits: (3)
This course focuses on mathematics and statistical reasoning important for decision-making in everyday life. It integrates quantitative literacy with numeracy, mathematical modeling, probability, and statistical thinking. Concepts are investigated with hands-on activities using important medical, environmental, and financial examples. Communicating mathematics and using appropriate technologies will also be developed in this courses.

SUNY Gen Ed Area(s): Mathematics
Designation(s): Liberal Arts

Learning Outcomes
  1. Develop and use the concepts of numeracy to investigate and explain quantitative relationships and solve problems in a variety of real-world contexts.
  2. Make decisions by analyzing mathematical models, including situations in which the student must recognize and/or make assumptions.
  3. Use the language and structure of statistics and probability to investigate, represent, make decisions, and draw conclusions from real-world contexts.
