MAT 118 Exploring Statistics Credits: (3) This is an introductory statistics course for non-STEM majors. Topics include: random sampling, graphical displays of data, measures of central tendency and dispersion, normal distribution, standard scores, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, Student t distribution, two-way tables, probability, correlation and regression. Not open to Math/Science or Engineering Science majors or to anyone having earned credit in MAT 151 or BUS 219 . A calculator with two-variable statistics capabilities may be required. Prerequisite(s): MAT 004 or MAT 018 (recommended), or higher, placement into college-level mathematics, or permission of instructor.
