PSY 214 Educational Psychology Credits: (3)
An investigation into the ways in which psychological knowledge can be applied to the processes of bringing about changes in behavior, i.e., teaching and learning. The educational implications of psychological theory and research will be applied to such areas as the processes involved in learning, remembering, thinking, solving problems, motivation, and creativity. In considering these areas the focus will be on understanding learning, and the differentiation among learners and learning environments, so that appropriate strategies may be created to enable students to better define themselves as learners. Prerequisite(s): PSY 103 .

Learning Outcomes
- Explain the principles of cognitive, social-emotional and language development and describe the implications for teaching and learning.
- Explain the theories of cognitive processing, constructivism and memory and how each applies in creating effective instruction and learning.
- Explain the theories of learning, social learning, and motivation and how each applies in creating effective instruction and classroom management.
- Define common research methods and analyze research studies for method, conclusion and contribution to the field of Educational Psychology.
- Describe individual differences and the implications for teaching/learning, drawing on education and experience when dealing with students or adults.
