SPA 220 Spanish Communication Through Cinema Credits: (3) This course will focus on the linguistic and cultural diversity of the Spanish-speaking world as represented in the cinema. It includes intensive work in conversation and composition. Solid preparation in grammar is recommended. This class is conducted entirely in Spanish. Prerequisite(s): SPA 202 or equivalent, or permission of instructor.

- Demonstrate an understanding of complex grammatical structures, including morphology and syntax of simple and complex sentences.
- Read and comprehend authentic movie reviews and cultural information related to the countries studied and the movies shown in class.
- Demonstrate an understanding of most of the content in the Spanish movies.
- Write composition or reports on given themes or readings.
- Maintain conversation entirely in Spanish, with little hesitation, in order to provide or request information, present simple ideas and/or express feelings and opinions.
- Compare and contrast the linguistic and cultural differences within the Spanish-speaking world with those of the United States.
