ATC 104 Automotive Braking Systems

Credits: (3)
This course examines the design, construction and operation of basic vehicular braking systems. The emphasis is on service and electronic diagnostic procedures and these topics are discussed in detail. Laboratory exercises consist of proper brake system service practices, component diagnosis and replacement, anti-lock troubleshooting techniques and related services. Rotor and drum machining techniques are explored in detail. This course has an accompanying lab.

  2. Identify the major parts of an automotive brake system.
  3. Diagnose common brake problems.
  4. Explain and perform disc and drum brake services.
  5. Describe and diagnose the operation of anti-lock brake systems.
