ADS 212 Architectural Design II Credits: (4) This course requires students to apply their knowledge of design concepts and the design process to practical problems with a focus on sustainability, social justice, and human health. Students are expected to plan, design, and present solutions to complex design problems facing local communities near and far. This course focuses on interior architecture and architectural design systems that impact healthy indoor environments, including approaches towards productivity, indoor air quality, acoustics, lighting, connection to nature, and connection to community. 3 lecture hours and 3 lab hours per week are required for this course. Prerequisite(s): ADS 211 .
Learning Outcomes
- Analyze and solve complex design problems by applying current architectural and interior design principles.
- Examine sustainable design solutions based on programming and site context, and how sustainability can create healthy environments for contractors and building occupants.
- Examine and engage the role of architecture and its ability to create equitable communities.
- Evaluate design elements incorporated into design decisions affecting indoor air quality, acoustics, and lighting.
- Create well-crafted presentation materials using 2D and 3D presentation techniques.
