MAT 108 Introduction to Statistical Process Control

Credits: (2)
This course will provide statistical literacy and introduce students to concepts often used in process control. Hands-on activities will be used throughout the course. Measures of center and distribution for data, the normal distribution, linear regression, and statistical process control will be used to introduce concepts often associated with quality control. Students will use Excel to calculate necessary quantities and to create needed graphs. This course does not count in the Math/Science degree program and is intended for Applied Technology students.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Calculate and use basic statistical measurements; mean, median, mode, range, IQR, standard deviation.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of a normal distribution, determining when values are considered unusual.
  3. Perform Statistical Process Control; x-bar, R and proportions charts.
  4. Use technology to calculate statistical measurements and create graphs.
  5. Use technology to create linear regression models.
