WLD 131 Welding Fabrication

This course introduces students in the methods and techniques used to prepare a variety of materials for welding. Students will utilize oxygene-acetylene torches for heating and cutting of plate and tube. The proper use of angle grinders and preparing metals for welding will be practiced. Students will be exposed to various cutting and forming methods including plasma cutters, waterjets, lasers, sheet metal brakes, notchers, nibblers, and saws.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the theory and operation of Oxygen-Acetylene torches for heating and cutting.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of proper preparation of weld joints using angle grinders and similar equipment.
  3. Understand the usage of various cutting and forming tools used to prepare materials for welding.
