WLD 222 Advanced Arc Welding

Credits: (3)
This course expands students welding skills by focusing on welding in vertical and overhead orientations. Students will learn how to properly weld pipe and gain experience with multiple joint designs, electrode types, and sizes. A variety of welding methods will be explored and may include SMAW, GMAW, or GTAW techniques. Prerequisite(s): WLD 121 ,WLD 122 ,WLD 123 ?.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the theory and execution of welding in the vertical and overhead positions.
  2. Plan and execute safely welding pipe and tube on the bench and as installed.
  3. Explain the proper selection of welding technique, electrode material, and operating parameters for various weld situations.
