MET 255 Advanced Machining Techniques

Credits: (3)
This course is a refinement and expansion of machining techniques students started learning in MET 151. More advanced skills will be taught using lathes, mills, EDM’s, and other tooling. In addition, students will be expected to machine parts with appropriate dimensions and tolerances. Two hour lecture and three laboratory hours per week. Prerequisite(s): MET 151 .

Learning Outcomes
  1. Contrast 3 different methods of taper turning.
  2. Create parts using broaching & EDM operations.
  3. Demonstrate advanced vertical milling techniques.
  4. Construct parts that are dimensioned and toleranced to technical prints.
  5. Apply trigonometric equations to oblique triangles.
