BIO 121 Introduction to Biology Credits: (4) This introductory one-semester biology course introduces some core concepts of biology. Topics include the molecular and cellular basis of life, energy flow in biological systems, gene expression and regulation, DNA technology, inheritance, and reproduction. This course is for students who need additional preparation before attempting BIO 151 (General Biology) or BIO 171 (Anatomy and Physiology I). This general education science elective is intended for non-science majors and those pursuing careers in nursing, surgical technology, or as physical therapist assistants. Does not fulfill the science elective but can fulfill a general education requirement for students in the Math/Science program who intend to pursue 4-year degrees. Three class hours and two laboratory hours per week.
