MAT 112 Nature of Mathematics

The purpose of this course is to improve problem-solving skills and extend students’ understanding of the nature of mathematics. The topics will include: problem-solving, number theory, Euclidean and Non-Euclidean geometry, the concept of infinity, and optional topics chosen from probability, topology, chaos, and fractals. This course is primarily for liberal arts students entering fields of study that do not have a strong mathematical emphasis.
