MAT 161 Calculus I Credits: (4) This is a first course in calculus for students in mathematics, science, computer science and engineering. Topics include basic analytic geometry, functions, limits and continuity, derivatives of algebraic and trigonometric functions, chain rule, implicit differentiation, antiderivatives, definite integrals, Fundamental Theorem, applications of derivatives and integrals. Graphing calculator use is required. Prerequisite(s): Four years of college-preparatory mathematics (including trigonometry) or a C or better in Precalculus with Trigonometry (MAT 143 ) or Mathematics for Technical Disciplines II (MAT 120 ) or permission of instructor.
