POS 102 State and Local Politics

This course examines the role of state and local governments in the American political system, with special emphasis on New York State’s government institutions, political processes, and public policies. Comparisons will be made among the fifty states in modern America and identify the political sub-cultures that represent individual social groups and regions.  The evolving nature of federalism and intergovernmental relations is covered as is the value of civic participation in state and local affairs.
