BIO 168 Survey of Human Anatomy

“Survey of Human Anatomy” is a one-semester course on the study of the structure and function of the human body. Topics include homeostasis, basic chemistry, cell structure, tissues, and the following body systems: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, urinary, digestive, and reproductive. Upon satisfactory course completion, the successful student will demonstrate an understanding of the basic chemistry of the cell and cellular structure, identify and describe organ systems, and demonstrate an understanding of the basic physiology of organ systems. This course is for students preparing for non-clinical roles in healthcare, such as Health Information Technology or Health Care Administration. This course does not fulfill requirements for students preparing for nursing, physical therapist assistant, surgical technology, dental assisting, medicine, or dentistry. This course fulfills the SUNY General Education Natural Sciences requirement. Prerequisite(s): C+ or higher in HIT 120  or permission of instructor.
