If you wish to receive academic recognition and advance your career and promotional opportunities, a 30-credit hour certificate program in Fire Protection Technology may be of interest to you. It was developed to provide academic recognition for the content of courses rather than the completion of the Fire Protection Technology (A.A.S.) degree.
Completion of this certificate may enable transfer to the A.A.S. degree program. Please check with your advisor.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Fire Protection Technology program is to provide the highest quality of fire service education at the associate degree level. The program strives to instill a comprehensive knowledge of the field, and provide students with the skills necessary to communicate, act and react efficiently, effectively, ethically and safely.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate efficient and effective oral, written, and mobile data communication skills.
- Apply safety principles and practices to both emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Recall selected standards on which fire service practices are based.
- Demonstrate critical skills necessary to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the field.
- Recall facts and concepts necessary to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the field.

1. Any three credit college course (except Physical Education Activity) may be used to fulfill this elective requirement. Electives are chosen in consultation with an advisor.
