Direct Support Professional II (MC)

This Direct Support Professional (DSP) II microcredential aligns with the DSP II certification through the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP). A medical examination, a tuberculin test, a background check, and fingerprinting may be required before beginning field work placements and may require additional costs.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Recognize social cues and employ necessary strategies such as assertiveness and negotiation, that facilitateeffective communication between the direct service professionals, their clients, and other service providers.
  2. Distinguish cultural and historical differences that would effect the working relationship between a Direct Service Professional and their client.

Admissions Requirements

Students must be 18 years of age or older.

Graduation Requirements

Grades of “C” or above are required for all HUM courses in order to graduate.

Courses must be completed within the last 5 years to count toward microcredential requirements. A GPA of 2.0 in the courses used for the microcredential is required.
