Teaching Assistant III (MC)

This Teaching Assistant III microcredential is designed to provide students with the skills needed to assist in educating young people in the Pre-K-12 classroom. Students will take three courses that prepare them to use spoken communication effectively, to utilize child psychology concepts in working with children, and incorporate literary analysis successfully in the classroom setting.

Learning Outcomes
- Use verbal communicate effectively in the classroom setting and with admininstrators, parents and teachers
- Apply knowledge of child development to the teaching assistant role
- Discuss children’s literature at an age-appropriate level
- Complete the required 9 additional college credit hours required by New York State for the application for Teaching Assistant level III
Admission Requirements
Students need to be a Level 2 Teaching Assistant (TA2) from any school district to be accepted to this microcredential.
Other Catalog Information
The courses in this microcredential may be taught at a combination of various Syracuse City School District sites, OCC Main Campus, and online. Transportation to any off campus SCSD site will be the responsibility of the student.

*Note:
Courses must be completed within the last 5 years to count toward microcredential requirements. A GPA of 2.0 in the courses used for the microcredential is required.
