**Welding Technology A.A.S. will begin in Spring 2025**

The Welding Technology A.A.S. program prepares students for careers utilizing welding skills including structural, pipefitting, and manufacturing. The program includes training and education in Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.  Students will learn about the materials, equipment, and processes used in welding. Students will learn metalworking techniques to prepare materials for welding as well as the inspection of finished welds. Successful students will have core skills needed for employment as a Welding Technician, Welding Supervisor, or Welding Inspector. Students will be prepared to take a variety of welding certification tests including NYSDOT Field Welder, AWS D1.1, and similar. Throughout the program, students will gain experience with mathematics, communication, and other soft skills relevant to successful employment in industry.

Mission Statement

The Welding Technology A.A.S. program will provide students foundational welding and metalworking skills combined with coursework in liberal arts to develop soft skills needed in the workplace. Students will learn and practice welding skills suitable for a wide array of industries. The college will partner with local manufacturers, service companies, and other entities that utilize welding to optimize the program quality and opportunity for graduates.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the theory and operation of a broad array of welding methods and techniques.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and skills related to welding safety, metalworking techniques, and weld inspection.
  3. Explain the mechanical, metallurgical, and physical properties of welded structures.
  4. Select and apply appropriate weld test and inspection techniques when evaluating welds.
  5. Communicate in written and oral formats for workplace settings.
