Direct Support Professional II (MC)

This Direct Support Professional (DSP) II microcredential aligns with the DSP II certification through the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP). A medical examination, a tuberculin test, a background check, and fingerprinting may be required before beginning field work placements and may require additional costs.

Learning Outcomes

Successful students who complete this microcredential program will be able to:

  1. Recognize social cues and employ necessary strategies such as assertiveness and negotiation, that facilitate effective communication between the direct service professionals, their clients, and other service providers.
  2. Describe laws, regulations, policies, and codes of ethics, which guide the profession.

Admissions Requirements

Students must be 18 years of age or older.

Graduation Requirements

This is a stackable credential. You must earn Direct Support Professional I (MC)  and Direct Support Professional II (MC) in sequential order. You cannot graduate from DSP II without graduating from Direct Support Professional I (MC)  first, or having an active Direct Support Professional I (MC)  Certification from NADSP.
