Welding and Metal Fabrication Technology (CERT)

The Welding and Metal Fabrication Technology Certificate program prepares students for careers utilizing welding skills including structural, pipefitting, and manufacturing. The program includes training and education in Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.  Students will be introduced to the materials, equipment, and processes used in welding. Students will learn metalworking techniques to prepare materials for welding.

Mission Statement

The Welding and Metal Fabrication Technology Certificate program will provide students foundational welding and metalworking skills needed in the workplace. Students will learn and practice welding skills suitable for a wide array of industries. The college will partner with local manufacturers, service companies, and other entities that utilize welding to optimize the program quality and opportunity for graduates. 

Program Learning Outcomes

Successful graduates of this program will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the theory and operation of a broad array of welding methods and techniques.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and skills related to welding safety, metalworking techniques, and weld inspection.

Tools/Supplies

The Welding and Metal Fabrication Technology program requires students to purchase tools and supplies. The list of required items is available in the department. All tools and supplies needs to be purchased and brought to the first class.
