Broadcast Media Communications (A.A.S.)

The Broadcast Media Communications A.A.S. program prepares you for a career in the varied fields of media. As a BMC student, you’ll obtain the fundamental skills necessary to perform as a media professional.  You’ll learn to develop, design, write, produce, and direct both independent and team-based projects. Faculty work closely with students to ensure a deep understanding of the creative and technical aspects of the production process. At the same time, you’ll receive a well-rounded education that incorporates the broader historical, ethical, and business aspects of media and its impact on both the individual and a global society.

Classes are taught in state-of-the-art production facilities. These include audio and video editing labs, edit suites, a professional television studio, and an internet radio station. BMC faculty have extensive experience in broadcast media and continue to work in the field, bringing current industry practices into the classroom.

Classes are kept to a manageable size to allow extensive hands-on training. In addition, the department maintains close ties with various media outlets that provide BMC students opportunites for professional internships.

BMC graduates are employed in radio and television stations, cable TV companies, sound recording facilities, audio/video production companies, advertising agencies, and the entertainment industry in Central New York and throughout the United States.
