Creative Writing (A.A.)

The Creative Writing A.A. degree offers students clearly articulated pathways designed for transfer to B.A. or B.F.A. programs in writing-related fields. This program of study develops strong writing and critical thinking skills while also advising students through a seamless transfer process. Accordingly, the program is structured so students can (1) deepen their creative skills through scaffolded course work, (2) broaden their experience with multiple genres, including fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, screenwriting, and playwriting, and (3) receive a broad academic preparation for a variety of career pathways. The program culminates in a portfolio course that guides students in revising professional-quality creative pieces, transfer opportunities, submission processes, and the next stages of their personal/professional lives as writers.
