EMS 112 Foundations of Advanced Prehospital Care: Paramedic Pathophysiology Credits: (3)
This course is designed to develop and refine the paramedic student’s patient assessment techniques. It will also develop critical thinking and decision making necessary to effectively manage prehospital care of the infirm and injured while introducing the pathophysiology of disease, disease process, and reviewing human anatomy and physiology as it relates to prehospital medicine. Prerequisite(s): matriculation in EMS program. Co-requisite(s): EMS 110 , EMS 110L , and EMS 111 .
Learning Outcomes
- Perform an adequate assessment of the infirm or injured patient while demonstrating proficiency in formulating a field impression and working differential diagnosis.
- Demonstrate knowledge of organs and organ systems and how they work together in the human body.
- Describe tissue histology and the organization of body systems, and how it relates to patient care.
- Describe the pathophysiological factors that precipitate disease and hypoperfusion in the human body.
