ARH 141 Commercial Construction Credits: (3) This course covers the materials and methods of contemporary commercial construction. This course focuses on site-work, foundations, concrete framing systems, masonry wall systems made of concrete, clay, and stone, steel framing systems, moisture and thermal protection, glass and windows, cladding and curtain walls, doors and hardware. Prerequisite(s): ARH 140 /IND 140 .

- Demonstrate an understanding of site preparation and excavation for a commercial building.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the materials available for common types of foundations used in commercial construction.
- Demonstrate an understanding of concrete and masonry materials commonly used in commercial construction.
- Compare and contrast common types of site-cast and precast concrete framing systems. Compare and contrast common types of masonry wall systems.
- Demonstrate an understanding of steel framing systems for commercial construction.
- Compare and contrast commonly used thermal and moisture protection materials and systems for commercial construction.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of commonly used glazing and window materials used in commercial buildings
- Compare and contrast cladding and curtain wall materials and systems used in commercial construction.
- Demonstrate knowledge of typical doors, frames and hardware used in commercial buildings.
