ART 205 Figure Drawing I Credits: (3)
An exploratory drawing course concerned with the human form including the nude model. Emphasis will include the techniques of drawing, use of mediums, and the awareness of anatomical correctness. Skeletal and muscular construction will also be introduced. Prerequisite(s): ART 101 and ART 102 or permission of instructor.
Learning Outcomes
- Interpret the human figure in a technically correct yet intuitive method
- Represent the human form as it appears in space utilizing line, tone, texture and composition
- Indicate the holistic structural essence of the human form in a rapid manner
- Judge size relationships of the human form
- Manipulate a variety of drawing media (solid and aqueous) in a controlled, purposeful and spontaneous manner
- Use professional terminology in the evaluation of student’s and others’ work
- Demonstrate an understanding of constructive criticism and self-analysis
