Credits: (3)
Modern engine control systems are discussed. Ignition systems and related diagnostics with an emphasis on computer controlled fuel management are examined. Laboratory topics include gas analyzers, oscilloscopes and scanning devices. This course has an accompanying lab. Prerequisite(s): ATC 141 .

Learning Outcomes
  1. Evaluate computer engine management diagnostics to determine operational state.
  2. Employ various scanning devices to display and interpret PCM failure codes.
  3. Examine electronic diagnostic instrumentation and applications.
  4. Perform basic and advanced ignition system testing to determine system efficiency.
  5. Explain sensor response and demonstrate using modern test equipment, thereby verifying system performance.
  6. Assess factors that influence successful technician related to engine performance.
