BIO 221 Pathology

Credits: (3)
This course covers the nature, causes, and development of disease conditions, as well as the structural and functional changes that result from the disease process. The principal diagnostic tests and treatments used in the detection and control of diseases will also be considered. Prerequisite(s): BIO 168  or BIO 171  and BIO 172 .

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the terminology relating to the etiology and pathogenesis of disease.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of important diseases affecting major body systems.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of the cause of diseases affecting major body systems.
  4. Describe the signs and symptoms of selected diseases.
  5. Associate specific diagnostic tests with their corresponding diseases.
  6. Demonstrate knowledge of the modes of treatment used in the control of specific diseases.
