COM 157 Electronic Media Writing Credits: (3) This course helps students to master the diverse writing styles and formats used in writing for broadcast, on radio, television, and cable. These include public service announcements (PSAs), station IDs, promotional announcements, script formats, commercials, news copy, and program materials. Emphasis is on developing clear, concise and compelling content. Prerequisite(s): ENG 103 .

- Identify the elements of a broadcast news story and the differences between broadcast and traditional print writing.
- Apply correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and style to broadcast and online news writing.
- Utilize sound reporting practices when interviewing, researching, and writing broadcast news stories.
- Create well-written content in a variety of forms for electronic media, including TV news packages, PSAs and commercials.
