SGT 115 Clinical Practice II Credits: (6) A continuation of SGT 105, this course offers students more advanced application and experience with clinical procedures in the operating room in order to prepare them with competent entry-level Surgical Technology skills in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective (behavior) learning domains. Between the two clinical courses, students will accrue the required number and variety of surgical procedures as defined by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Additional fees are applied to this course. Prerequisite(s): Matriculation in the Surgical Technology (A.A.S.) program, B or higher in SGT 105 , C+ or higher in SGT 111 , and C+ or higher in BIO 205 .
Learning Outcomes
- Apply didactic and lab knowledge and utilize skills necessary to scrub, prep, and assist as defined by the role of the Surgical Technologist, demonstrating entry level competencies.
- Analyze two surgical procedures and write two detailed surgical case summaries.
- Demonstrate participation in the required number of surgical procedures as required for eligibility to sit the for CAAHEP Certification Exam.
- Demonstrate professional behavior in all given circumstances.
