ILS 093L Introduction to Integrated Learning Lab Credits: (1EQ) This one-hour-a-week lab is designed to support instruction specific to ILS 093 , Introduction to Integrated Learning. Students will work one-on-one or in a small group with a tutor to identify skill gaps and improve their vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. Students will learn and reinforce active reading strategies to develop an academic vocabulary by focusing on efficient methods of deriving meaning from context and by using roots and affixes. The focus will be on improving reading comprehension in a variety of literary genres, with an emphasis on paraphrasing, summarizing and understanding author’s tone and purpose. Literal and inferential meaning will also be discusssed. Co-requisite(s): ILS 093 .
