HUM 250 Human Serv Field Instruct & Seminar I Credits: (3)
This course is a required supervised practice experience enabling the student to develop competency for the delivery of social work in a professional setting. This learning experience provides the student with opportunities to connect theory and concepts from the classroom to a Human Services work environment. Students will complete a 100-hour internship at an approved site. A medical examination, tuberculin test, background check and/or fingerprint review may be required. Prerequisite(s): HUM 101 and HUM 102 .
Learning Outcomes
- Conduct oneself according to the standards within the profession including following codes of ethics and displaying the essential qualities and characteristics of professionals in this field.
- Demonstrate the ability to record, accurately transcribe, and identify progress and daily living challenges of individuals served.
- Identify and respond to safety and abuse prevention and reporting protocols.
- Describe the client rights and responsibilities while promoting self-advocacy goals.
- Support clients to overcome barriers to receiving assistance.
