ART 217 Motion Graphics

This is a basic, practical, hands-on introduction to the concepts of creating motion graphics. Students learn the theoretical knowledge of basic production, along with the tactile and artistic skills to design and produce layered motion graphics and special effects for insertion in digital video and animation projects. Prerequisite(s): ART 142  or PHO 100 .

Learning Outcomes
  1. Develop a storyboard for time-based media.
  2. Create basic animation sequences using digital design tools.
  3. Execute frame-by-frame animations using a timeline.
  4. Import media, set up a composition, set layer key frames, scale and rotate a layer, copy and paste key frames, create a motion path, synchronize animation, apply drop shadow effects, and add adjustment layers.
  5. Export completed media projects.
